Councillor calls on Birmingham City Council to stop parking charges plan for Lickey Hills
Local Councillor Adrian Delaney is campaigning to keep the Lickey Hills free
Birmingham City Council have put out plans to introduce car parking charges at many of Birmingham’s great parks such as Sutton Park, Woodgate Valley and the Lickey Hills. This means that during a cost of living crisis Brummies have to fork out money to visit these local green spaces. This charge disproportionally affects Birmingham’s poorest who are already struggling.
Councillor Adrian Delaney of Rubery and Rednal ward, where the Lickey Hills Country Park sits has launched a campaign alongside local MP Gary Sambrook to stop this Birmingham City Council policy.
“At a time when we should be doing all we can to help those struggling to make ends meet, the Labour run City Council are once again trying to introduce car parking charges at the Lickey Hills and other Birmingham country parks…” Cllr Delaney told Counter Cut.
“Access to parks is good for both physical and mental health. Sadly, the Labour run City Council are making it as difficult as possible to use Birmingham’s premier parks.”
“I am campaigning to keep parking free at the Lickey Hills.” Cllr Delaney presented a large petition to the Council opposing the plans to introduce car parking charges at Birmingham’s premier parks.
