Why do Labour Councils who virtue signal over the cost of living continue to burden taxpayers?
They burden the poorest during a cost of living crisis
A Labour Party graphic went around different councils across the country falsely claiming the Conservatives had crashed the economy. This is an example of Labour’s virtue signalling on the current difficult political climate. However, should local Labour councils read their own graphics and take notes?
‘Families in Birmingham shouldn’t pay the price for their incompetence’, is an interesting point, especially since Birmingham City Council has increased Council Tax by 39% since they took power in 2012 on Birmingham families. Considering Birmingham Council are looking at a £80 million black hole it would be easy to argue this is down to their incompetence. Why is Birmingham Labour making Birmingham Families pay the price for their incompetence?
They are also introducing parking charges that disproportionately affect poorer families in a desperate attempt to acquire cash, on Birmingham’s country parks such as Woodgate Valley and the Lickey Hills. So Social Justice Warriors of Birmingham Labour want to virtue signal against the government but stop poor people from enjoying the park?
Birmingham Labour have also introduced the clean air zone to punish people who drive old cars who are mostly working class people who can’t afford newer fancier cars. Again a tax on poverty to fund the vanity projects and incompetence of Birmingham Labour.
Birmingham council tenants are living in inhumane conditions and with the mould and damp issues they are potentially dangerous. Vulnerable people are at risk and are not getting the help they need from their local Labour authority. Exempt accommodation is a blight on Birmingham which is hurting the vulnerable and damaging communities.
Next door to Birmingham Sandwell Council has introduced bin charges on green waste which is already done in Birmingham but they have done this during a cost of living crisis meaning Sandwell families have another bill to worry about.
Labour councils, criticise the government by all means but live your principles. You want to virtue signal yet you burden the poorest the most with your council tax rises, park charges, and clean air zone during a cost of living crisis.
