Why now and why subscribe?

Counter Cut is the new home of high quality, in-depth story-telling covering Politics, Culture and Sport from across the West Midlands.

Why now? Regional journalism is in decline. Our local press are driven by clicks and advertisers - print readership is low and online articles are focussed on celebrity gossip and so full of pop-ups that the content is barely readable. 

Counter Cut is different.

We’ll be publishing a weekly newsletter and providing high quality written content on our website along-side a series of podcasts. There will be no click-bait and certainly no pop-ups. Oh, and it’s completely free to subscribe. 

We aren’t afraid to take an editorial line and to champion opinions that might not be in the mainstream. 

We’ll have contributions from leading figures across the region as well as guest pieces from local people on the ground in their communities. 

Counter Cut offers a truly broad range of content and views to our subscribers.
