Sunday 26th June saw the return of Harborne Carnival attracting thousands of visitors to enjoy the sunshine as a community whilst supporting Heart Research UK after a 2-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
There was plenty of fabulous food on offer
From the Digbeth Dining Club to Qbox’ Carnival Special - created by the culinary-genius Dan Sweet - which I couldn’t resist indulging in; so tasty I ended up opting for not one, but two desserts.
Later in the day, I enjoyed a refreshing Virgin Pineapple Cocktail served in a pineapple from a stall offering a range of Slushies and Virgin Cocktails - a perfect cooler for the summer heat.
I went in for my third sweet treat - a serving of fresh donuts - supplied by vendors across the High Street. After a long walk around the festival, I simply couldn’t resist!
Not only were the food and drink fantastic, but the live entertainment did not disappoint with a full line-up of talented performers gracing the main stage. Professor Firestick's Green Man Stage added a further dynamic as a great place for families to relax and vibe to brilliant music by local artists.
The day was great for kids too with countless things to do from riding on fairground rides and bouncing on the bungee trampoline to playing hook-a-duck and dunking basketballs for soft-toy prizes.
At Harborne Carnival, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
It was great to see an extensive display of talent and creativity from local artists and designers selling their goods; ranging from handmade jewellery to prints of Brum’s cityscapes from Brumhaus and canvas paintings of your favourite celebrities and superheroes from Simon Fenton.
I can’t wait for next year’s festival and would highly encourage you to see for yourself what the Carnival has to offer when the spectacle returns next summer.
