Counter Cut Tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
Dominic Stanford pays tribute to the late Queen on behalf of the Counter Cut team
It is with overwhelming sadness that we pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her passing will be felt with deep loss in every home across the country and beyond. The affinity, affection, and love with which she was revered will never by matched.
We mourn the loss of our Head of State, our Church figurehead, and our Monarch, but for many of us, the sense of loss is a personal one. Queen Elizabeth II touched us all; she gave us strength in our arm in times of turmoil and hope in our hearts when we needed her most. The legacy she leaves after 70 years on the throne will always endure.
Her Majesty was no stranger to the West Midlands, visiting every corner of the region. She visited us throughout her reign, with notable visits in Birmingham for the opening of Birmingham’s Great Charles Street Queensway in 1971, the NEC and New Street Station, and to the University of Birmingham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and many other sites especially during her jubilee tours.
She visited factories in Castle Bromwich, Jaguar Land Rover in Wolverhampton, the New Art Gallery in Walsall, Coventry Cathedral and Coronation Gardens in Dudley.
Her Majesty bound us together; in our local communities as we enjoyed Jubilee Celebrations, but also to our Nation and to our Commonwealth Family. The passing of the Queen’s Baton through so many towns in the West Midlands just a few short months ago ahead of the Commonwealth Games, reminded us of the connection we share, through Her Majesty, with 56 nations across every continent of the Commonwealth.
It seems a fitting tribute to our Sovereign who so loved nature and the outdoors, that thousands of trees planted for the Queen’s Green Canopy will grow tall in her honour. From Tettenhall to Small Heath, our school grounds to our gardens, this royal forest will mark her reign for generations to come.
The Queen dedicated her life to our service with an unwavering sense of duty and devotion.
All of the team at Counter Cut extend our deepest condolences to His Majesty King Charles III and the Royal Family.
May she rest in the eternal peace she so richly deserves.
God Save the King.
