Birmingham Councillor’s long history of comparing Conservatives to Nazi’s
If this Councillor disagrees with you, you might just be a fascist...
Cllr Liz Clements is the Cabinet Member for Transport on Birmingham City Council as well as being the Labour Councillor for Bournville & Cottridge. She was a former leadership challenger to Council Leader Ian Ward, having come third in the leadership contest this summer.
Politics is extremely divided right now with political tensions riding extremely high. Liz Clements decides to add fuel to the fire by calling anyone to the centre-right in politics a fascist or a Nazi.
In the tweet above, Clements is calling an immigration detention and processing centre which houses illegal immigrants, who chose to enter the country illegally, a concentration camp. She also references it alongside fascism making a clear holocaust comparison. During the holocaust, 6 million Jews died in one of the worst tragedies in human history. For Liz Clements to weaponize it to make a dig at the Conservatives is beyond bad taste.
Liz Clements comparing Home Secretary Suella Braverman to fascism is beyond silly. Fascism is about big government and centralised totalitarian power, something Suella Braverman opposes, as does the Conservative Party. Fascism is also the belief that society should be ruled by a dictator - Suella Braverman also opposes this, as does the Conservative Party. Yet below is another tweet from Liz Clements insinuating that Suella Braverman’s reappointment is tantamount to fascism.
It is not just the Home Secretary that Clements targets.
In another tweet, Clements compared Nigel Farage’s concerns over public anger if Brexit were delayed to fascism as well as making reference to the Nazis. Whilst appreciating the lack of wider context to this tweet, it is clear from the content that Nigel Farage was arguing that the delay to delivering the will of the people would cause public anger.
Clements jumps from a politician arguing that the electorate might not appreciate government delaying their democratic will to cries of naziism:
Not forgetting Conservative Minister Dominic Raab, who is also a fascist:
Also below is Clements calling a Telegraph journalist a fascist:
So, Liz Clements tries to smear any politician or journalist she disagrees with, with lazy comparisons to one of the worst tragedies in human history.
With the Labour Party and nearby Coventry Labour under fire for being complicit in antisemitism is it wise for Liz Clements to use the Nazi’s and the Holocaust in political point scoring?
People have been cancelled for making holocaust comparisons, such as actress Gina Carano who starred in the Disney Show Mandalorian. She said her political opponents were acting like Nazi’s and she lost her job. Why does Gina Carano lose her job and Liz Clements does not? Because Gina Carano wasn’t left wing and Liz Clements is. The mainstream media and the establishment will always cover for someone on the left.
